In the words of Sir David Attenborough, ‘Planet Earth has seven extraordinary continents; each one unique’. The latest BBC series focuses on the diverse wildlife of each of the seven continents – and has some great geographical footage.
Episode 1 started with Antarctica – the coldest, windiest and driest continent. There was dramatic footage of the glaciers, mountains, icy waters and icebergs around the continent – some clips could be ideal for a hot and cold places topic.
The next episode looked at Asia - the largest, most populated continent with the highest mountain peaks and hottest deserts. There were scenes from the equator to the Arctic circle of tropical rainforests, hot deserts, tectonic plates and volcanic activity as well as highlighting our overuse of natural resources leading to deforestation.
Up next: South America!
